Dr. Mahesh Premarathna Appointed as Adjunct Associate Professor at Huazhong Agricultural University, China

The National Institute of Fundamental Studies (NIFS) is proud to announce the appointment of Dr. Mahesh Premarathna, Scientist in the Microbial Biotechnology Research Program at NIFS, as an Adjunct Associate Professor at the National Key Laboratory of Agricultural Microbiology, College of Resources and Environment, Huazhong Agricultural University, Wuhan, China.

At NIFS, Dr. Premarathna conducts pioneering research on microbial biofilms, probiotics, and postbiotics, with a strong focus on fundamental studies and their applications in agriculture, ecosystems, the environment, astrobiology, medicine, and related fields. He has published widely in peer-reviewed journals, delivered international presentations, and serves as an editor and reviewer for leading scientific publications. He is also an active mentor, guiding both undergraduate and postgraduate students in their research careers.

This prestigious appointment reflects Dr. Premarathna’s growing international recognition and opens new pathways for collaborative research between NIFS, Sri Lanka, and Huazhong Agricultural University, China, further strengthening global academic and scientific partnerships.
