From Lab Benches to Life Lessons Celebrating 35 Years of the Pre-University Research Associate Program

For 35 years, the Pre-University Research Associate (PRA) Program has been nurturing curiosity and transforming young minds into confident thinkers, creators, and innovators. What began as an opportunity for school students to step into research laboratories has grown into a life-shaping experience, producing alumni who today serve as scientists, doctors, engineers, policymakers, artists, educators, and leaders across the globe.

The 35th Anniversary Celebration, held on 15th September 2025 with 150 participants, was both a reunion and an inspiration for the future. The event showcased stories of resilience, creativity, and discovery reminding us that every breakthrough, and every life lesson, begins with a simple question.

Program highlights included keynote addresses by distinguished scholars, reflections on the enduring legacy of Prof. Cyril Ponnamperuma, and “My 60 Seconds of Science,” where 25 past PRAs shared rapid-fire insights from their journeys. Participants also engaged in thought-provoking sessions on innovation, humanity in space, and the philosophy of science.

The celebration concluded with a lively panel discussion, closing remarks, and a memorable group photograph to mark this milestone.
