Prof. Junyan Liu

Adjunct Professor - Microbial Biotechnology

Dr. Junyan Liu is an associate professor in Zhongkai University of Agriculture and Engineering, China, adjunct associate professor in National Institute of Fundamental Studies, Sri Lanka, and distinguished visiting professor in Rajamangala University of Technology Phra Nakhon. She has been a postdoctoral fellow in University of Maryland, college park, USA. She has received her Ph.D. degree from South China University of Technology and has been a joint Ph.D. student in the University of Tennessee. Her research focuses on foodborne microbial behavior including biofilms, viable but nonculturable state, and polymicrobial interactions, as well as their safety control and rapid detection. She has published 60 SCI papers as first or correspondence author, with 3 ESI high citation papers, total IF 300 and H-Index=25. She has been funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and has been awarded the Young Talent of Guangdong Provincial Association for S&T (2022), Young Talent of Guangzhou Association for Science and Technology (2022), the Outstanding Young Investigator Award in Biofilms (2021) and Tennessee Postdoc Research Showcase 2nd Place Winner (2020). She is also a co-organizer and secretary of 2nd International Conference on Biofilms (ChinaBiofilms 2019), 3rd International Conference on Biofilms (Asia-Pacific Biofilms 2021), 4th International Conference on Biofilms (Asia-Pacific Biofilms 2022), 5th International Conference on Biofilms (Asia-Pacific Biofilms 2024), International Academic Symposium on Microbial Stress Tolerance and Response (2023). She serves as editorial board member in journals including International Journal of Food Microbiology, Scientific Reports, Antibiotics, Journal of Applied Microbiology.
