Pradeepa Wijesinghe currently serves as a Research Assistant in the Plant Taxonomy and Conservation Project at the National Institute of Fundamental Studies (NIFS) while pursuing her MPhil degree at the University of Colombo. She obtained her B.Sc. (Hons) degree in Environmental Sciences and Natural Resource Management with First Class Honours from Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka in 2025 and achieved the highest final GPA in her graduating batch. She joined NIFS in 2025 as an undergraduate researcher and subsequently served as a Project Assistant in the Plant Taxonomy and Conservation Project. She has since continued her research career at the institute as a Research Assistant.

Her current research focuses on the integrative phylogenetic, biogeographical, and taxonomic study of the plant family Urticaceae. Her research interests include plant taxonomy, plant systematics, biodiversity, ecology, and molecular biotechnology.
