Project 01: Transcriptome Analysis of Serum of Latent Tuberculosis Patients for Candidate Biomarker Identification.

This study explores gene expression in the serum of patients with latent tuberculosis (LTB) to uncover molecular markers that may predict the shift from latent infection to active disease. With the growing concern of LTB reactivation, identifying such early warning signals is crucial for improving timely diagnosis and treatment. Early detection of such biomarkers could improve patient outcomes and support timely interventions, while helping Sri Lanka manage the healthcare and economic burden of tuberculosis more effectively.
