Staff Profile

Niluka Sewwandi

Niluka Sewwandi is currently a Research Assistant in the Water research project, reading for her Ph.D. Degree, at the National Institute of Fundamental Studies. She obtained her B.Sc. Special Degree in Physics from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura (USJ), Sri Lanka in 2018. She completed her MPhil at the USJ in 2023 and her thesis has focused on the controlled growth of size-tunable carbon nanomaterial by Chemical Vapor Deposition for molecular sieving. Her current research focuses on investigating the growth mechanisms of vertically aligned carbon nanotubes for floating catalyst chemical vapor deposition systems. Her research interests include the synthesis and characterization of carbon nanomaterials such as carbon nanotubes and carbon spheres, and water purification.
